..................................
Sam Wheeler and the crew unloading E-Z-HOOK from the main trailer on to the salt on the salt trailer.

Looking at the cockpit through the canopy.
...........................................
The back of the liner showing the two square chute tubes.
.................................
The doors that close on the back of the car to conceal the chute tubes. The way I understand it when the chute is released a "ram" opens these doors and then a shot gun shell fires the initial drag chute out that then pulls the rest of the chute out. Everything on this car like the Ack Attack and the Bub liner looks like it was made at a NASA machine shop. Just outstanding construction and attention to detail went into these three liners.
.................................
Here is the rear profile of the liner with the chute doors closed. I have other pictures of the E-Z-HOOK, but never before understood how the chutes were deployed. Ack uses round tubes that are exposed at the back and in a minute I'll show you what Denis did with his liner. The arrow points to a flat plate at the top the tail that I never noticed before, but a crew member says has been there forever. My feeling is that it must act like the spill plates on the side of a spoiler that keep the air on the spoiler and prevent it from spilling off the sides. I wonder if this is there to try and keep the air on the tail and to prevent it from spilling off the top??

A view from the rear looking over the motor at the cockpit.
.........................................
The 1150 cc (I believe) turbo Kawasaki motor. There is no room on the liner for an intercooler. They run alcohol which helps with cooling the hot compressed air. This motor is giving away about 2800 cc's to the other two liners.
.........................................
Here Rick Vesco is holding up a tire that I believe came off of the liner at another meet. The person that Rick is showing it to is Dave Despain (Speed -- Wind Tunnel). Probably not the most flattering shot of him. He was at the meet and interviewed Sam, Mike and Denis a number of times for a special that is suppose to be aired on Speed. Seemed to be a genuinely nice guy.

A view of the liner's front tire through the canopy. They only have one left and they seem to not be working over 325 mph. This is going to be a big dilemma for the team to overcome.

Another shot of Dave Despain (right) and Rick Vesco. Dave might like this shot better.
...................................................
Mike (left) came over and talked to Sam Wheeler a couple times. These guys have a lot of respect for each other.

Here my friend Alan McAlister (of BMR racing fame) is towing E-Z-HOOK to the starting line for it's historic 355 MPH run. E-Z-HOOK has a site ( HERE ).
